I suppose I should talk about the Oscars because it's such a big deal or whatever. Sadly, this year it really wasn't that exciting for me. Usually I love the oscars, but I ended up watching them with my grandparents who are both very hard of hearing so the TV was turned up to 20 (in other words MUCH to loud!) and they would talk every few minutes, ESPECIALLY when something important/awesome was going down. Then, just as they were going to announce best picture, a different channel cut in! My grandparents had no idea what had happened for a good 5 minutes before they checked the TV guide and found it on another channel. Basically I missed best picture :(.
Another reason why I found it kinda lame was because I read all the "predictions" and basically knew who was going to win. Since they were all right it kinda sucked, I like the surprise of the oscars, I like to have unexpected people or movies to win! There was none of that tonight. The last thing that sucks is that I was supposed to go to my friends oscar party, which sounded super fun and shit, but as I had to work, was super hung over, and I had procrastinated way to much I was unable to go :(. I also missed the red carpet because I was working and I showed up late so I stayed an extra half hour, so lame since that's my favourite part! Anyway I basically think the Oscars, for me anyway, kinda blew this year. It was a good show otherwise, but a little lacking, the jokes weren't that funny (except Marilyn Monroe that was great) and I got tired of watching presenters read off of the teleprompters, so annoying! Anyway I'm gonna go look up some movie trailers now (because the oscars always makes me want to watch EVERYTHING) and I'ma check out all the sexy celebs in there beautiful get-ups! I guess there is something to be said for the oscars, they sure know how to put on a show.
Sooooooooooo stunning!
Just random writings about me and my life, some stories and book reviews. I mostly blog here now though: faomosgirl.tumblr.com

The inspirational women list! (first ever cheesy "inspiration" list, don't judge!)
I need to apologize first. I don't usually like writing lists like this, so I'm gonna try and make it as painless and un-sappy as possible, promise! I'd also like you to note that this list is in no particular order, it's just a list of people who inspire me/are cool an' shit. Okay here me go!
1. Michelle Phan
Because: she's isn't another bimbo on youtube just doing make-up tutorials, she has actually created career for herself, an extremely successful career. I also admire how honest and open she is with her viewers, there is never any bullshit about it, she tells them how it is with out being cynical or bitchy. That is what I admire the most. She makes me want to help starving children and rescue puppies! She makes me want to be a better person basically, to get out there and help people.
2. Chriselle Lim
Because: I listed Michelle, she has also created a complete business for herself. I love how she starts as a model then realizes she wants to do more, my theory is: she realized she was too intelligent for the job. Her shear drive and professionalism. It makes me believe that I can accomplish anything, maybe I don't know what that is yet and I'll take a couple different paths, but I'll get there.
3. Tamora Pierce
Because: she has written sooooo many good books and they all have empowered females in them. Also she made me love reading, stories and books in general. I owe a lot to this woman. She makes me see that author's can be successful writing in a genre they love and she makes me want to be a better writer.
4. Oprah Winfery
Because: she awesome. Sure they're some things about her I love to hate, but at the end of the day her story is so inspiring and what she does for the world that it's really hard to hate on her. She makes me want to work hard enough to be really successful and meet her :P
No really though, she makes me see what hard work and dedication to something you love can do.
5. Jane Austen
Because: she had mad writing skillz. I love writers, especially female ones. Jane Austen has to be the one who has effected my life the most, I grew up reading her books, having them read to me and watching film adaptations of her books. I love that her writing is so timeless and her sense of humour was amazing. The fact that she started writing so young and had so many books published is pretty awesome, especially in an era where women weren't treated as equals. She makes me realize how much easier I have it in a lot of ways. Not to sound as if it's really easy or something, it isn't. But i'm pretty lucky, imagining what her life was like makes me grateful for all the options I have in mine. Also she was such an amazing writer, the way she creates memorable characters, characters with human flaws, yet keeps them in a frame work appropriate for herself as a writing is amazing. Her use of satire is my favourite part, I want to write like that one day.
6. Tina Fey
Because: she is hilarious. Everything I've seen her in is awesome. I also completely relate to Liz Lemon, which I don't actually think is a good thing :S. She just makes me want to be funny and make people laugh and smile more.
7. Natalie Portman
Because: She is such a stunning actress, legit. Every role i've seen her in is awesome, she just gets right into and does her thing, and she incredible at it. Even in bad movies she, some how, comes out doing well. Also she is so goddamn talented! It makes me want to follow what I'm good at so I can be as good at it as she is at acting. (I just have to figure out what that is :S)
8. The Bronte Sisters
Because: they wrote all their books from there isolated living situation. It just shows that you don't have to have all these great life experiences to be a great writer. Which gives me hope for myself :P.
9. Queen Elizabeth I
Because: really? Do I need to explain this one? Okay fine!
She's ruled a kingdom, very successfully, at a time when women had no power, at a time when it was not thought that a women was capable of running a kingdom AND she did it all with out getting married. She was also highly educated and intelligent for her time. I've adored her for some long I don't know how you couldn't think she was fucking amazing.
10. Charlotte Smith
Because: she was forced to take care of her family, through her writing! She is also considered the first woman of letters, which is pretty sweet. Her poems are amazing (in my opinion) the elegiac sonnets were my favourite, so lovely, so melancholy, well written, awesome.
11. Sylvia Plath
She is such a sob story, yet her writing is so powerful. I love that about her, (also i just love a good tragedy :S). She had a difficult go of it, living in a time when they didn't have fancy drugs or therapies of mental illness. It's just to bad that she died so young, I always find that the most heart breaking part because she could have gone on to write so much more! I sometimes just want to emulate the power and directness of her writing, it makes you stop and gasp or catch your breath, that is what I love about her.
12. Lady Gaga
Because: she is so goddamn inventive! I'm sorry, but I realize every era has that one person that does crazy shit, also don't tell me she is "copying" I'm copying. Your copying. That is a natural side product of human society, we all copy someone, we get our ideas and inspiration from some where. Anyway I love her. The meat dress? I'm sorry but that did it for me, the statement alone there was awesome.
13. Gwen Stefani
Because: She's fun. No Doubt was just some kids messing around and they became successful and were, in my opinion, pretty awesome. Then she grew up, she actually did, not like some stars who just grow older and still party and mess around. No, Gwen got married and had a baby, (possibly two? I don't really follow this shit) and she disappeared for awhile, which i admire. She took some time out to be with family and that is really important. And anyone who is following her on fb or twitter knows she is working on a new album :)!
14. Emily Haines
Because: I love her voice! I love her lyrics and her band. I think I have heard almost every song and they're all awesome. I looooover her lol. I find her lyrics amazing, sometimes a little emo, but I'm a sucker for emoness so that's okay. It just reminds me of poetry and contains some really awesome imagery which is different from other stuff I've heard. I know she's sorta passe now or whatever, but I still love her. Legit.
15. My mom.
Because: um duh she's my mom. I know this list just got super cheesy and your feeling finished with it. I dunno I just think that if your mom doesn't inspire you on some level, that would kind of suck. My mom is pretty amazing. She KNIT me an entire SWEATER for Christmas for christ sakes, without me even knowing (albeit I don't really live at home anyway). Don't lie, your a little jealous and now thinking that's pretty awesome. She's also the most amazing cook I know. I don't know what i'll do when I have to cook for my self, probably just starve.
16. My nana
Because: she is an amazing woman. She raised 5 kids! 5! I mean I can't imagine raise one or two, let alone five! Also she has good manners, yet some how always says what ever is on her mind. She can be blunt and honest, yet some how has tact. She is a little old fashioned, but it's mostly cute. She once when I was helping in the kitchen she told me it was good practice for when I had a husband. At first I was a little mad, but I got over it quickly. Another time she sent me a thank-you card with a good looking mexican guy on it. Cheekily adding his name inside. Such an old tart.
Anyway this is my list! Hopefully it's not to lame/weird/long/short/etc
I don't really know if I explained how the people inspire me enough, but whatevs it's a first list. Also you may have noticed I really enjoy lists, not sure why this is, but yeah there might be a lot of them in the future.

Definition of Destiny; or Terri really bored.
Here is a list.
Iused to write these lists all the time in High School. One day I decided I didn't want that much personal information floating around the interwebz so I deleted them all. It hurt. No I'm kidding, it didn't, I just stopped caring about them, I just wrote them because I was like in love with this guy and I didn't want to tell him, but I wanted to tell him, so I wrote the lists. I kind of become infamous for them, so when I decided to stop posting them I wrote a "farewell" not letting everyone know there would be no more notes! Sadly some people said they would miss them. The only thing I miss about them is that they ate up all my boredom. But now, I can focus on other kinds of writing, such as this blog, which is really the only writing I'm doing right now, besides school stuff (hence all the lengthy posts!). So for old times sake, here's a list, not a super personal one or anything, just a music list. It would be cool to see if anyone can guess the artists, some are pretty obvious, others not so much and some obvious if you know me. Anyway, good luck! :)

What should this post be about... hmmmmm
The other night, as I was falling asleep, I had a really good idea for a blog post and I couldn't wait to get on the computer and write it! Now here I am, the next evening and guess what? I have no idea what that post was! I'm sure it was pretty cool though... like:
Babies!
Who doesn't like cute little pink and innocent babies? yeah not much to talk about there...unless you have one, then the topics are never ending... I do not yet posse a baby, nor is there any future plan to have one so that topic is out.
Or
Cats! Okay cats actually aren't as cute as something even more awesome, KITTENS! (imagine a drum roll before "kittens"). They aren't actually that exciting to write about though... just exciting to look at...errr not like that guys! Sooooo cute.... ^_^
Okay I don't know why I keep thinking of only cute things... my brain is sooo tired . ugh.
I suppose I could talk about literature or writing, but honestly that's what I do all day in school, well for like three hours at least... the other 4/5 hours I spend talking about school or people and reading. That is it.
So no literature or writing. Today this will be a lit and writing free blog post! Expect that I've already introduced the topic...and I'm writing it... okay okay I see the ironies there.
Lets talk about KNITTING! (no not kitten, stop misreading that and getting excited! geez).
I've actually been doing a lot of knitting lately, well starting knitting projects anyway. I am currently working on a pair of fingerless gloves right now. Very beautiful purple yarn, lots of fun.
Sorry I don't have a picture of my work-in-progress yet, just been busy and lazy! Any who interwebz homies that will be all!

Play: the jealous social networking (untitled)
I got this idea into my head that it would be fun to write a play focused on social networking and the hazards associated with becoming too obsessed with it and with someone. The concept of the play is a little different. It will involve the main character (Becca) boyfriends page with pictures, comments, status etc projected on a screen behind Becca in the scenes where she is shown on the computer so that the play go-ers know what's up and why Becca is continually moody and upset throughout the play.
Hopefully this works out okay and isn't to difficult. I still haven't worked out how to incorporate the facebook projections in yet. I think maybe a screen will be down, with Becca off to the side and a spot light on her, the screen would have to go up when ever she closed the computer or someone came into the room to talk to her. The scene with her pacing around and talking about John and why she's upset (she thinks he's cheating) will be the most difficult because it will have her going back and forth from pacing to the computer. I thought about making this a movie instead but it would be way to slow paced for a movie, in my opinion, and I just like the idea of staging it. It's a simply story about jealous and insecurity when you come down too it, really nothing new.
Anyway if you have any thoughts at all LET ME KNOW! I *may* post part of a rough draft up after I've written it, so far I only have the outline/stage directions down. It's already five acts! So surprised how quickly I moved along with it! Also I haven't got a title, what is in the subject line is only a working title, so if you've got any good ideas for that let me know! Thanks guys :)

UPDATE: Makings some changes!
I can already imagine that some of you are going to read this and cringe. Some of you will want to point out the irony that the first thing on this list is exactly what I'm doing. I'm aware. This is the best way in which I can reach the most people and have the most support with my goals. I know that this is pretty cheesy (I'm cringing as I write this) but sharing goals is a great step towards achieving them. So that is what I'm doing.
I would like to also mention that I just had a really bad day, I'm possibly delirious due to being sick with some sort of virus so I may or may not regret doing this in a few hours.
Some aspects of my life I need to deal with/change/do:
1. Use the computer LESS.
This includes my iphone and definitely is refering to facebook the most. It interfers with other, more important, things (such as school and writing) which I would like to focus my energy on. It also interfers with my sleep schedule, and IS a contributating factor in my insomnia.
2. Complete readings and assignments in a timely fashion (i.e. IN TIME).
I am a procrastinator. I don't do things until I must and when I do do them I tend to do as little as I can get away with or have time for. I then complain about why I don't get better grades and feel extreme disappiontment that I will not be able to continue with my schooling (i.e. grad school).
a) I need to get over the gut rentching fear of leaving school. I like seeing my friends everyday, I like conversation and goofing off, but it cannot go on forever as much as I would like it too and the sooner I deal with acting like a child, the sooner I can accept being a grown up (not to say that acting like a child is a bad thing, but sometimes you just have to be an adult).
3. Write everyday!
This is pretty self-explanatory. I want to be a writer. Yet, here I am, barely writing at all. I always open my computer intending to work on something, but then... I never really finish it– or like it for that matter. I know that I need practice and that I could be very talented. Maybe people out there disagree, but when I put my mind to it, I am a good writer. It is truly what I enjoy doing, that and conversation. If I can get myself (once again) into the habit of writing I think it will reduce a lot of stress in my life and I'll feel better.
4. Get enough sleep.
8 or 9 hours would be ideal, but I'll have to ease myself into it. Right now, I especially need a lot of sleep as I am sick. If you see me up late on facebook or msn (which I shouldn't even be using) please remind me that I need to go to bed. I am very tired of being sick all the time (if you spend any time with me AT ALL you know that this is true) and of being tired and stressed out. It is unhealthy.
Lastly I'd like to say that your support in these goals would be amazing. They are all aspects of my life which I KNOW I need to change. It might be difficult and gradual, but I think that I will be happier if I can feel like I accomplished something at the end of the day. I know that this note is at the high end of the cheese scale, which I apologize for, but I feel that it is a necessary step to getting where I want to be (i.e. not HERE!).
Please text me your support (etc) because I will be checking facebook less.
I would like to also mention that I just had a really bad day, I'm possibly delirious due to being sick with some sort of virus so I may or may not regret doing this in a few hours.

Egypt and other non-sense!
The uprising in Egypt caught my attention right away. I am completely fascinated by revolutions, dictatorships and oppression. Probably because I grew up in a country as free and liberal as Canada. I have no concept of what living in a nation in Egypt's situation would feel like. Let's just say I sit in front of the news every chance I get, just to see if they are "free" yet or if Hosni Mubarak has done anything drastic at all. He hasn't.
Saying that you will "talk" to people or will step down in the next election are obvious opt-outs. I don't pretend to know very much about politics, just basics, nor do I know very much about Egypt's economy or social situation, but I do see a country which has been oppressed, a young nation which is ready to break free and become something new, something about the people. That I find very inspiring. I send my love and support out to all of the protesters in Egypt, I truly believe in there cause and hope that it is met in the most peaceful way possible, though this seems less and less likely as the president continues to refuse to step down.
On to less important things...
I need to complain about complaining. I do a lot of it, sometimes I just don't know what to say or how to act towards someone so I might complain something. Something we can both hate on together. Buses, for instance, or printing massive paper or photocopying entire sections of books for an entire HOUR! Not fun. The state of university tuitions, the lack of bunnies. There are so many things I can complain about, it's getting ridiculous! So for this blog I want to generate some new conversation topics, besides the obvious go-to's such as the weather and news. There are so many exciting things to converse about, so why aren't we talking about them! Here are some I've come up with:
Dictators. Why don't more people talk about oppressed countries? I don't just mean Egypt or which ever one is in the news that week, just in general, even historical dictators, so fascinating!
People watching. Okay I'll admit, my friends and I do this. We'll see someone hilarious and start making fun of them, or just making general observations. No harm in this as long as they don't overhear you. If there is a case when you want them to overhear you, then at least try to make them embarrassed. i.e. the other day at school I was facebooking in one of the eating places and I overheard a guy sitting behind me say to his girlfriend that he loved creeping on people randomly facebooking at school. Awkward silence in both of our (separate) conversations, but still, great moment. It reminded me that there are people around you, equally aware.
Talk about a subject the other person knows little or nothing about OR get them talking about a subject you know little or nothing about. This sounds like it defeats the idea of small talk (or maybe you think this idea is very transparent and want me to stop) but you are actually learning about a new subject, which can be really fun and informative or your teaching the other person about a new subject as well (this could lead them to think your pretentious or condescending if you pick a subject which is beyond there capacities to comprehend so please take heed to not go over the other persons head!).
I suppose that's all I have right now, my mouth hurts and it's much to late for this, so good night for now!
